Hey, I’m Shelby Stuebing!

I’m a registered psychotherapist (qualifying) rooted in compassion, curiosity, and the belief that healing happens when we feel seen and understood.

I take an eclectic approach to psychotherapy, drawing primarily from humanistic and psychodynamic traditions, while integrating trauma-informed care, attachment theory, and existential exploration where appropriate. I also value offering practical, solution-focused support when needed — whether that’s brainstorming with clients or helping them find immediate solutions to specific challenges they may be facing.

I hold a Master’s degree in Theology with a specialization in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy — a clinically focused program that combined evidence-based mental health training with deep attention to the human experience. I also hold a Bachelor’s in Psychology with minors in Biology and Religious Studies. My academic path reflects a lifelong curiosity about what shapes us — how we think, what we value, and what gives our lives meaning. Studying religion, psychology, and biology has deepened my appreciation for the complexity of being human. My graduate training included coursework in addictions, neuroscience, cognitive and dialectical behaviour therapy and grief, all of which continue to inform my work today.

Having been born and raised in Windsor, I am so proud to be back here to serve this community. I’m also a mom of two young children, which continually deepens my understanding of patience, identity and growth. Like many of my clients, I was diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood, a discovery that helped me reflect with more compassion on my own path and on the ways people may be carrying invisible burdens. In recent years, I’ve experienced profound loss due to the sudden passing of both of my parents. This loss has shaped not only how I grieve, but how I hold space for others who are living through absence, change, or the quiet ache of missing someone.

When I am not working with clients I enjoy spending my time gardening, I have a deep appreciation for nature and have recently been focusing on native plant gardening. It’s been wonderful watching native pollinators and birds in my garden. I also enjoy starting crafts and books (though I don’t always finish them!).

Clients and peers often describe me as “down-to-earth” and “real.” I bring a conversational, open style to therapy, one that invites honesty, curiosity, and collaboration. I welcome questions, feedback, and even gentle redirection. For me, therapy is a nonjudgmental, shared space where we figure things out together.

If you're curious about therapy but unsure where to start, that's okay. Therapy doesn’t require you to have it all figured out. You just have to show up and we’ll begin from there.

“We are all in this together and there is no therapist and no person immune to the inherent tragedies of existence.”
